Performing Arts Ministry

Our Performing Arts Ministry, also known as Central on Stage, was created with the mission to offer yearly plays and musicals free of charge to the community. Over the last decade, the church has performances including: Godspell; Nunsense; Children of Eden; You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Secret Garden; Wizard of Oz; Fidler on the Roof; and Little Women.

Our Church is committed to the arts, and love having this opportunity as a way to give back! Would you like to get involved or come to our next play?

This October we are performing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Watch our Facebook page for updates on the show!

Sister Act – Performed in June of 2018

When disco diva wannabe Deloris Van Cartier sees her gangster boyfriend Curtis Shank commit a murder at the grungy club where she’s performing, she reports the crime to the police and is placed in the witness protection program. Disguised as a nun named Sister Mary Clarence, she is placed in the convent of the Holy Order of the Little Sisters of Our Mother of Perpetual Faith, where she finds herself up against the rigid Mother Superior. Deloris uses her singing talent to inspire the other nuns to create a more contemporary choir, and they become the hit of the community. Word of their success reaches Curtis and his mob, who arrive on the scene to settle their score with Deloris and find themselves battling not only her, but a gang of feisty nuns and the Mother Superior as well.

Godspell – Performed in June of 2017

This immensely successful rock opera needs little introduction, but when it was first produced on Broadway in 1971 it broke new ground in its stage treatment of the historical Jesus Christ. Based on the Gospel according to St Matthew it deals with the last days of Jesus, and includes dramatized versions of several well-known parables. And yet it is something more – a religious experience, a demonstration of joy, and a celebration of the family of man. The cast are conceived as clowns, improvising scenery and costumes, and using many well-known theatrical devices, pantomime vaudeville and varied musical styles to interpret one of humanity’s greatest events

Nunsense – Performed in June of 2016

NUNSENSE is the hilarious musical farce about a convent of Nuns staging a fundraiser to enable them to bury the last four nuns of their order who died of botulism in an unfortunate convent cooking accident. The Little Sisters of Hoboken put on this riotous revue packed with hilarious, show-stopping song and dance numbers, and always proves to be a crowd favorite.
