Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Though we love seeing and hearing children in worship, we know that sometimes they need their own space to run around and play. Each Sunday we have a nursery available staffed with our trained nursery attendant. If you have a young child, our nursery is the perfect place for them!
After the children’s moment in the service, children are invited to go to our education room for lessons and activities. Though children are of course welcome to remain in the sanctuary for the full worship service, we know that sometimes having their own space and activities tailored to them can be more enjoyable.
Children in Worship
We believe that children will find worship meaningful when they are given an active role in it, and when it relates to their own needs and interests.
From reading scripture, offering prayers, singing and playing music, to even our Youth Sundays, our children play an important role in our worship services.
For children who want to stay in the sanctuary, but need activities to keep them engaged, we also offer worship boxes that have activities and coloring pages that tie into the worship theme of the day.
JYF and CYF
JYF (Junior Youth Fellowship) and CYF (Christian Youth Fellowship) are two fellowship programs for our children and youth. JYF is geared towards elementary aged children, while CYF is focused on late middle school to high school aged students. The programming for these groups runs from September through May with a break in the summer.
Both of these groups meet once a month, typically on a Sunday, for activities, fun and games, food, and fellowship. In addition, in the fall and in the spring, these groups will be taking trips to places in the community, including the Louisville Zoo and the Louisville Mega Caverns.
